So this morning I got up, and went to school, like usual. Then I was walking to my class and as I am two doors away from my classroom I am grabbed by the arm. I am pulled into the door I just walked by and I am pretty sure there is about to be a blindfold involved, thats right, I was kidnapped...by my Italian Literature and History teacher. She wanted to give me a 5 inches thick book, in italian of course. I might have mentioned that things werent going well in my Italian Literature and History class, it is the hardest to understand and my teacher was not too excited to have to work around an exchange student. She didnt want me to buy any of the books, do any work, or to even try to participate. But, I did the work, I translated papers into almost illegible Italian, and it seems to have shown her that I am serious about school. So, today she expressed her concern that I couldnt understand the books, and soon we will be starting to analyze a book in class. So in this thick book is number of short stories and activities and other things. No one else in the class is getting it, and she wants me to just try and read some of the stories over the next few months and then write book reports for them. I call this book 'The Holy Grail'. It will allow me to: improve on my italian, to be in the class and not fail for the first few months before I get the hang of the language, and it is proof that my teacher will let me participate and that she accepts that I am here. HOORAY!
Its getting colder here, which I really enjoy, I tend to like cold much better than hot. I teased my host father about saying 'wouwal', which I explained is pronounced 'vowel'. My italian language teacher intimidates all us 15 students and the hard-core hungarian kid just laughs at her and says 'vodka' and the Chinese girls look like they are going to cry.
